About

The Cornell Investment Club was founded on November 1, 1997 by Peter Sterling '98, Jay Braunstein '98, and Josh Benjamin '99 to educate members of the Cornell community about investing principles through different market valuation techniques such as the Bloomberg information Service, technical analysis, and internet research.

Since the founding of the club, membership has grown from 10 members with $5,000 in the portfolio to over 300 investors and a portfolio worth over $20,000 diversified across many sectors.

CIC's main goal is to teach and practice investing fundamentals. The best way to achieve this goal is through hands-on experience, so CIC manages its own mutual fund. By cultivating the experiences and knowledge of each of its members, CIC promotes learning by encouraging its members to invest in the fund. Members present self-picked stocks and must convince a majority of members present at a meeting for the fund to acquire that stock.
